Indie Festival: Southpoint Mall

We've been working hard to bring even more color, culture, and individuality in our custom made PolishedCulture pieces.

A trend that has been very popular this summer is layering accessories along with chunky jewelry.  This gives any casual look that standout statement for both women...

and men...

Vintage Fever: Standout Fashion!

One thing I can respect when it comes my generation in regards to fashion, is the appreciation for generations past and the timeless style portrayed.  Whether the 40's and 50's classic pin-up/ tailored suit era, to the 60's and 70's free spirited/colorful era, to the 80's and 90's pop/hip-hop culture influenced era.... each era was truly a fashion STATEMENT which told a story.

Vintage, or second-hand clothing has become a vibrant trend, showcaseing the creativity that fuels our generation, and our ability to retell these stories.  I find inspiration in those who are not confined to  seasonal trends, but pay hommage to fashion that came before.

Standout Fashion is an online store which caters to those 80's/90's vintage conneseuirs.  I constantly check their site as new pieces are added daily.  Kudos to the stylists and founders, including Ephraim Udofia, as they so effortlessly recreate these years and the joys they brought... which I know for a fact are near and dear to my heart :)

Freshly Cultured

Ran into an ecclectic group of creators on my excursion the the A this weekend (Atlanta, Georgia for those who dont follow lol).  Although my trip was only for a day, I love how inspiration flourishes when I'm around new, positive people.

FreshOut is not only a quality T-shirt line, but a movement.  Founders describe the drive behind this movement is the thirst for knowledge, and the  obligation to stay fresh!! Each Design is "thoughtfully created with rememberence of the past and an eye for the future".

I can't help but to respect this movement... a movement with a message of honor and rememberance for those who came before us, while setting trends for generations to follow.  With an array of colorful styles, each design speaks volumes with just a few word and images.

Not only are the messages BOLD, but you have got to love the touch, and feel of a good quality cotton T-shirt!! Soft to the touch and soo comfy...

A PolishedCulture necklace or bracelets will go great with these dynamic designs, and will certainly create a "freshly cultured" fashion statement that these trendsetters so effortlessly portray.

Designer Spotlight: Anna Kissel

Introducing, for those who may not know, the very talented, spunky, ecclectic, spontaneous jewelry designer Anna Kissel of PolishedCulture.  Her pieces are most definitely a reflection of her fun personality: Colorful lol.  Specializing in trade beads from Ghana West Africa, some of which date back hundreds of years, Anna Kissel takes pride in each piece, as she does her West African heritage and Ghanaian/Mexican culture.

The Art Auction 3/07/2011... uh oh!!

PolishedCulture is excited to be apart of an epic event where talented, eclectic artists from all over the US come together to showcase their work in an inspiring, cultured environment.  Surrounded in an ambiance of creativity from artists Nathaniel Benneton, Mark Bryant, Chris Carr, and Chinedu Osuchukwu; music from Golden Girl Tribe, and Del Travar; and of curse.... horsd'oeuvre's (yummm), "The Art Auction" will include an array of art from visual art to fashion forward pieces to wear.

Headliner artist Demont "Peekaso" Pinder will also be there!!

I've become very familiar with his work after seeing his art as he toured with Raheem Devaughn.  I remember he began painting on stage as Raheem (yes, first name basis... we go back -_-) sang a beautiful ballad, making the whole experience musical and unforgettable.  There's clarity in each abstract piece, and I love!

The best part of coming to this experience, is all the pieces will be up for auction!!! First come first serve... So don't miss this!  Be the first to select exclusive art for you home, office, or even to wear

Event will be on Monday March 07, 2011 @ The Fridge DC
from 8 - 10pm

Contact event organizer and the homie Joanna Hernandez for more details.  Can also get info and tickets HERE.

Hope to see you there!
